Obituary: Norman Lopes
Norman Lowell Lopes of Newman passed away June 28 at age 86.
Mr. Lopes was a native and lifelong resident of Newman.
He was employed at Leprino Foods as a creamery worker and foreman for 37 years.
Mr. Lopes was a U.S. Army veteran who served in Japan during World War II. He belonged to the Veterans of Foreign Wars, and was an active member of the Gustine Honor Guard.
He was a member of the Westside Auto Club, and owned a 1944 Ford pickup. He was also a member of the SES.
Mr. Lopes is survived by his wife, Violet Lopes of Newman; a daughter, Debbie Mendonca of Gustine; a sister, Carol McCalment of Modesto; four grandchildren, Michelle Jasper (Jason), Deana Ceron (Steve), Tiffany Del Don (Leroy IV) and Desiree Mendonca; and three great-grandchildren, Kyle Azevedo, Jacob Jasper and Jaidyn Jasper.
He was preceded in death by his son, Norman E. Lopes.
Services were held Tuesday.
Interment was in Hills Ferry Cemetery.
Hillview Funeral Chapel was in charge of arrangements.
