Commercial burglary
Newman police said $2,000 in cash was reported stolen in a burglary last week at Eagle Recycling, according to police reports.
Police said the burglary was reported Sept. 12.
Entry was reportedly gained by breaking a window.
Activity report
Newman police received 153 calls for service, handled 29 cases, made 10 arrests, issued 24 traffic citations and towed three vehicles in the week ending Sept. 18, according to the department’s weekly
activity report.
Gustine Police
DUI arrest
Gustine police said Rigoberto Cornejo, 32, of Newman, was arrested Sept. 17 on suspicion of driving under the influence of a controlled substance.
Authorities said Cornejo was taken into custody following a traffic stop at Verde and Linden.
He was cited and released to the custody of a responsible adult.
School burglaries
Two school burglaries were reported last week, Gustine police said.
A computer keyboard and computer monitor valued at $225 were reported taken from Our Lady of Miracles School, according to police reports. Entry was apparently made through a window. The burglary was reported Sept. 13
A second burglary was reported Sept. 16 at the former Gustine Middle School campus on Wallis. Police said a radio was reported stolen from a school bus and a battery was removed from a private vehicle. The items were valued at $260.
Grand theft
Police said a catalytic converter valued at $1,000 was reportedly stolen off a vehicle parked in the 1500 block of Portsmouth Lane. The theft was reported Sept. 16.
DVD player, lawn tools taken
Gustine police said a DVD player valued at $500 was reported stolen Sept. 13 from an unlocked vehicle in the 1000 block of Lucerne. A leaf blower and weeder valued at $230 were reported stolen from the yard area of the same address in the incident.
Activity report
Gustine police answered 95 calls for service, handled 22 cases, made 10 arrests and issued seven traffic citations in the week ending Sept. 20.
