Gustine’s Misael Silva heads the ball away from a LeGrand player in Southern League soccer action Thursday. The first-place Redskins extended their league lead with a 5-3 win over the Bulldogs. Jose Barriga had three goals for Gustine. Alfredo Mendoza and Joel Guzman also scored. Earlier in the week, Gustine defeated Ripon Christian 6-1. Barriga and Deric Cunha each scored twice, and Silva and Mendoza added goals for the Redskins.
Orestimba’s Adolfo Alcauter battles a Hughson player for possession of the ball in a varsity TVL match Thursday. The two teams battled to a 1-1 tie, with Alex Bueno scoring the Warrior goal. Earlier in the week, Orestimba turned back Ripon 4-1. Hector Mendoza scored twice in the win. Bueno and Nestor Trigueros also contributed goals.
