Newman Police
Garage burglarized
A chain saw and hedge trimmer were reported stolen Oct. 15 from a garage in the 1300 block of T Street, police said.
The items were valued at $350.
Weekly activity report
Newman police received 174 calls for service, handled 17 cases, made eight arrests, issued 36 traffic citations and towed three vehicles in the week ending Oct. 16, according to the department’s activity report.
Gustine Police
Vehicle stolen, recovered
Gustine police said a 2012 Chevrolet Avalanche reported stolen Oct. 11 from the 1000 block of North Avenue was subsequently recovered in an orchard near Highway 140 and Hunt Road.
Police said the use of On-Star guided authorities to the vehicle.
A hard-top cover to the vehicle bed was missing, but the Avalanche was otherwise undamaged, according to police reports.
DUI arrest
Gustine police said Richard G. Gehrmann, 57, of Boulder Creek was arrested Oct. 17 on suspicion of drunken driving.
Gehrmann was booked into Los Banos Jail on the DUI charge.
