Feature photos: Seed lab

Students at Von Renner Elementary had the opportunity to visit an interactive “Seed Survivor” lab on campus last Wednesday, where they learned about the nutrients and elements that plants need to grow. They also learned about the importance of plants for human survival, and had the opportunity to plant their own sunflower seed to take home - or to their classroom - and grow. Fifth-graders and some students in grades 3/4 participated. Fourth-graders Lilia Leyva, left, and Sarahi Mares planted their sunflower seeds as fourth-grade after-school leader Cindy Perry looked on.

Fourth-grade students Briana Rodriguez Velasco and Diego Esquivez were thrilled to watch a virtual rose bloom in one of the interactive exhibits housed in the 32-foot trailer. The mobile display is provided by Agrium in partnership with the California Foundation for Agriculture in the Classroom. The seed lab will be at Hunt School this Friday.
