Obituary: Robert Bloom
Robert Royer Bloom, third-generation native of Gustine, died on the morning on November 18th in a hospital not far from his San Juan Capistrano home. Services were held in Corona del Mar on December 1st.
Bob was born in the Cottonwood district in 1927, the youngest child of Paul and Stella Bloom. He graduated from Gustine High in 1945. After a stint as a U.S. Army paratrooper, he completed his education at Modesto Junior College and Stanford University.
After his graduation from Stanford, Bob moved to Southern California and distinguished himself in the field of mechanical engineering. He co-founded the successful firm Bearing Engineers, and over a long career was involved in numerous challenging projects.
Bob was preceded in death by Dorothy Foran, his spouse of over half a century. He is survived by sons Christopher and Douglas and daughter Anita, all of Southern California. He leaves many other relatives and friends who will cherish him always as a generous host, sensitive mentor, intelligent companion and jolly good fellow in every regard.
