Portuguese Fraternal Society of America, Council 7 Gustine-Newman, met Nov. 6 in OLM Parish Center I.
President Pro Tem Steve Day conducted the meeting, which was preceded by a Thanksgiving potluck.
Get well cards were sent to Madeline Lawrence, Father Leonard Trindade, Janet Beard, Luisiana Drumonde and John Salvador.
A sympathy card was sent to the family of Urbin and Elzira Ferreira.
Several Council 7 members attended the PFSA annual convention held Nov. 8-10 in Modesto. Monique Vallence, a member of Modesto Council 38, was installed as the 2020-21 supreme president at the convention.
Council 7 will host a Christmas potluck and meeting Wednesday, Dec. 4, at Parish Center I. The potluck begins at 5:30, followed by the meeting at 6:30. An ugly Christmas sweater will be held for the December challenge. For reservations, contact Nancy Petersen, 854-6604.
Newman Woman’s Club
The Newman Woman’s Club will meet Monday, Dec. 2, at Mil’s in Patterson for its annual Christmas luncheon. The event begins with social time at 11, followed by a no-host lunch. Guests are welcome.
An opportunity drawing will be held.
There will be no gift exchange.
Members with cans or plastic to donate may bring them to the meeting.
A head count will be required for reservations. Members planning to attend are asked to call 862-2087 for reservations or additional information.
Native Sons of the Golden West
Native Sons of the Golden West, John C. Fremont Parlor 293, will host a dinner meeting Thursday, Dec. 5, at the Veterans Memorial Hall in Gustine.
Dinner will be at 6:30 p.m., with Bingo to follow. Those wishing to play cards or visit are welcome to arrive at 5.
The 2020 lucky calendars will be available at the meeting. A discussion of 2020 events will be part of the meeting.

VFW, Legion Christmas party
The Veterans of Foreign Wars, Joseph G. Rose Post 7635; American Legion Manuel M. Lopes Post 240 and their respective auxiliaries will host a Christmas party Tuesday, Dec. 17, at the Veterans Memorial Hall in Gustine.
Family members and guests are welcome.
