American Legion Auxiliary
The American Legion, Manuel M. Lopes Post 240, Auxiliary will meet Thursday, Feb. 13 at 6:30 p.m. in the Green Acres Mobile Home Park clubhouse.
Guests are welcome.
On Saturday, Jan. 18, Audrey McIntyre, president of the local auxiliary, attended the American Legion Auxiliary District 12 meeting in Chowchilla.
The auxiliary will be holding a drawing for prizes at the American Legion breakfast on Sunday, Feb. 16, at the Veterans Memorial Hall in Gustine.
Gustine Seniors will convene Friday, Feb. 14, at the Al Goman Community Center for a Valentine’s-themed meeting and Bingo.
Annual membership dues of $10 are now payable. Dues increase to $12 as of March 1.
New members are always welcome.
Cakes for the meeting will be provided by Virginia Souza, Emily Blackwell, Mary Marsigli, Joanne Martinez and Rosa Goodin.
The Veterans of Foreign Wars, Joseph G. Rose Post 7635, Auxiliary met Feb. 4.
Chair Darlene Cerutti named Veterans of the Month Allen Young, Thomas Galvan, Richard Huntley, Doug Stephens and Michael Holmes.
The auxiliary will have a veterans project called “The Defenders.” Loretta Martinez has been appointed chair.
Veterans program chair Sharon Andrade spoke on the importance of program reporting and how to expand the report.
Mary Ann Watson, membership chair, announced three members.
Karen Freitas, event organizer, spoke on the upcoming fund-raiser, which will be a “St. Patrick’s Bakery” event March 17 from 4-6 p.m. at the Veterans Memorial Hall. Bakers will create sweet treats which will be purchased for a donation.
A veterans tree planting will beheld March 31 in Schmidt Park, along with a dedication and tribute to our veterans.
The auxiliary members had a photo taken with the newly-revised auxiliary parade banner.
The next auxiliary meeting will be held Tuesday, April 7. No meeting will be held March 3 due to the elections. The meeting will convene at 6:30 p.m. at the Veterans Memorial Hall. Guests are welcome.
