The Gustine Seniors met on Friday, July 12, at the Al Goman Community Center with 44 members present.
The meeting was called to order by President Cathy Mendonca and the pledge was recited. Mendonca welcomed guest Carol Martins.
A moment of silence was held in memory of member Dale Martin.
Birthdays and anniversaries were recognized for the month of July. Those having birthdays include Shirley Alamo, Mel Andrade, Dorothy Azevedo, Diann Martin, Tony Mello, Doris Onstine, Cathy Mendonca, Eva Goman. Eleanor Geer, Joe Auria, Kitty Ledford, Virgina Souza and Zelia Flores. Each received a free Bingo card.
Members with July anniversaries are Marge and Mel Andrade, Rich and Lori Ford, Ed and Rose Borba, Lee and Zilda DaSilva, and Joe and Zelia Flores.
Sympathy cards were sent to Regina Martin and Betty Mello. Get well cards were sent to Sharon Andrade and Dave Isola.
The kitchen crew for July and August includes Rosa Goodin, Emily Blackwell, and Doyle Owens.
The next trip for for Gustine Seniors is to Jackson Rancheria on Aug. A limited number of seats remain. The cost of $36 is due at time of registration.
The club will have a barbecue pot luck on Aug. 9. Hot dogs and hamburgers will be furnished. Members are asked to bring salads. Orestimba 50-Plus Club members are invited.
The 50/50 was won by Marlene Rodriquez.
Jami Westervelt from the city of Gustine spoke to the members asking for their input on the city parks. The city has money to spend on the parks and wants to know what improvements the seniors would like.
Miss Gustine first runner-up Amanda Oliveria and third runner-up Roselyn Sandoval attended with Westervelt and helped serve refreshments.
The next meeting of the Gustine Seniors will be on Friday, July 26, at 1 p.m. at the Goman Center. Cakes will be provided by Irene M. Gomes, Marge Auria, and Sharon Andrade.
