The number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in Newman has increased to 11 as of Tuesday afternoon, an increase of three over a week earlier, while Gustine saw a new case reported Tuesday to bring its total to eight, up one from a week earlier.
Stanislaus County has also begun categorizing COVID-19 cases in the unincorporated area by supervisor district. As of Tuesday afternoon the unincorporated area of District 5, which includes the West Side, had 22 confirmed COVID-19 cases.
In neighboring communities, Los Banos had 37 confirmed COVID-19 cases as of Tuesday afternoon (up from 33 Monday of the prior week). Patterson had 36 confirmed cases as of Tuesday (up from 22 on Monday of the prior week).
The number of confirmed cases continued to climb in Merced and Stanislaus counties through the week.
As of Tuesday afternoon, Stanislaus County had 324 confirmed cases, up from 232 on Monday of the previous week. The number of COVID-related deaths in Stanislaus County had risen to 10 as of Tuesday afternoon.
Merced County had 116 confirmed cases as of Tuesday afternoon, up from 90 on Monday of the prior week. Three deaths related to COVID-19 had been reported in Merced County as of Monday.
