GUSTINE - Downtown Gustine will once again be transformed into a Halloween carnival of sorts when Oct. 31 rolls around - but there are some changes in store for the city’s popular trunk-or-treat activity.
The event will have a drive-through format, explained Tiffany Vitorino, the city’s recreation supervisor.
Two blocks of downtown Gustine will be lined with decorated vehicles from which Halloween treats will be dispensed to youngsters as they ride past in vehicles.
Vitorino said about 15 individuals or organizations have registered to have a “trunk” at the event and dispense treats. More are welcome, she emphasized.
In addition to the decorated vehicles and Halloween treats, Vitorino said, she is planning a few Halloween surprises suitable for young children in the two-block trunk-or-treat route along Fifth Street.
As vehicles leave the trunk-or-treat zone, she said, they will have the option of traveling through a “zombie” zone.
“People who don’t want to do that can just go straight on Fifth Street to leave the event,” Vitorino noted.
The trunk-or-treat event will be held from 6:30-8:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 31.
Individuals or groups wishing to host a trunk may contact Vitorino at 854-6471.
