The City of Newman is partnering with local businesses and organizations for a series of events that will help residents spruce up their homes and yards.
The City of Newman, Bertolotti Disposal, Stanislaus County and Greater Valley Conservation Corps are moving forward with the 2021 Fall Clean-Up.
From Oct. 4 to Oct. 9 residents can dispose of trash, particularly bulky items for free at 1420 M Street. This does not include refrigerators, televisions and computer monitors. Hours for the free disposal are 7:30 a.m. to 3:50 p.m. Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday; and 7:30 a.m. to 6:20 p.m. Wednesday. The service is closed on Sunday.
The free service is only available to City of Newman residents. Residents must provide identification and a current City of Newman utility bill. Commercial businesses are not eligible for the free disposal.
A tire amnesty event is set for Oct. 6 to Oct. 8. During those days, residents will be able to dispose up to nine tires for free. It is only for passenger tires and no rims will be accepted.
The tires can be dropped off at 712 Fresno Street from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. on those specific days.
An e-waste and household hazardous materials disposal event is planned for 8 a.m. to noon Oct. 9 at the corporation yard at 712 Fresno Street.
Residents can bring up to 15 gallons or 125 pounds of e-waste or household hazardous items. These items include used motor oil, oil filters, car batteries, antifreeze, gasoline and diesel fuel, brake fluid, carburetor cleaners, road flares, paint and paint thinners, drain cleaner, aerosol products, roof tar, kerosene, batteries, mercury thermometers and thermostats, pesticides, herbicides, fertilizers, propane canisters (5 gallons or less), pool and spa chemicals, charcoal lighter fluid, television and computer monitors, cell phones (without batteries), cables, computers, laptops, copiers, fax machines and printers.
Face masks are required prior to entry, social distancing guidelines will be followed and there will be a limited amount of cars allowed at entry.
