Gustine FFA officers served up ice cream at the chapter’s September meeting.

Pride, practice, and determination were the feelings of first-year FFA members about finally participating in the Merced/Mariposa Section opening and closing ceremonies competition, held Oct. 16 at Gustine High.

The members had been practicing their roles for the last month, and all that hard work paid off.

There were 84 teams present, and of Gustine’s 11 teams, six earned gold awards and 11 members received “outstanding” honors. Those members included Garret Gomes, Abigail Crisantos, Lily Cocio, Austin Bell, Ashlyn Alamo, Christina Moitozo, Allison Rowlett, Yadira Diaz, Kaitlin Dores, Darian Nunes and Jasmine Gonzales

The Gustine chapter officers also competed against the other chapter officer teams. Gustine received gold and was second overall. Two of our officers earned “outstanding” honors, including Madison Woods for treasurer and Nick Alamo for reporter.

Gustine FFA is proud of all the members who competed and helped with the event. Thank you to all of our judges, and to the Ag Boosters for serving our chapter pizza that night.
