Major injuries in accident

A Los Banos man suffered major injuries in a single-vehicle accident Sunday night, Nov. 17 on Ingomar Grade Road, the California Highway Patrol reported.

According to the CHP, Darius C. Barnes, 18, was driving a 2011 Audi southbound on Ingomar Grade approaching Bunker Road when for unknown reasons he allowed the vehicle to veer to the left as he approached a curve in the roadway.

The vehicle crossed the northbound lane of Ingomar Grade, struck a fence and then collided with a wooden pole and large electrical box before coming to a halt.

The accident occurred shortly before 8:30 p.m.

The CHP reported that alcohol did not appear to be a factor in the collision.

Newman fire report

Personnel from the Newman Fire Department and West Stanislaus Fire Protection District’s Newman station responded to 16 calls for service from Nov. 12-17.

Fire Chief Keith Bowen said responses included 11 medical aid calls, three public assists, one illegal burn and one vegetation fire.
