A Patterson man who had been reported missing on Monday night was found by the Stanislaus County Sheriff’s Department in the Delta Mendota canal on Tuesday afternoon.
The deceased was identified by the sheriff’s department as Ahmadzai Mohabullah, 32, of Patterson.
Mohabullah had been reported missing by his family on Monday night.
Shortly before 10 a.m. Tuesday, a San Luis and Delta Water Authority maintenance employee was working at the waterway when he spotted an unresponsive person floating in the water.
Sheriff’s deputies, including the dive team responded to the area of Ward Avenue and Marshall Road for a water rescue. When first responders arrived at the scene, they determined the individual to be deceased.
The Crimes Against Persons unit responded and took over the investigation. With the assistance of the Dive Team, the male was pulled from the water. Within a short time, investigators determined the male to be Mohabullah.
There are currently no suspicious circumstances surrounding Mohabullah’s death. However, his cause of death will not be determined until an autopsy is conducted.
