A new postmaster at the Gustine post office was officially sworn in Feb. 7 to oversee the Gustine branch of the U.S. Postal Service.
Ramandeep Kaur, a nine-year veteran of the postal service, was installed as the local postmaster by Neil Gonzalez, manager of post office operations in Sacramento.
Kaur’s career with the postal service began in 2011 where she started as a clerk in the Merced post office. She later transferred over to the Patterson branch, where she was also a clerk.
She transferred again to the Gustine post office in August of 2019.
“I really enjoyed what I was doing when I had these positions and I was always willing to learn more and do my best each time to get where I am today,” said Kaur.
Being in Gustine has been a special experience, she added.
“I just really love this community. It has been an honor and very humbling,” Kaur said.
Kaur also mentioned that she enjoys problem solving, and also emphasized the importance of providing excellent service and communicating effectively with the public.
Kaur’s journey started in India, where she graduated from college with a degree in computer sciences and eventually became a computer instructor.
She came to the United States in 2006, and helped with her husband’s business and cared for her son before embarking on her career with the postal service.
