The Newman-Crows Landing Unified School District has resumed weekly distribution of family food boxes through the USDA Farmers to Families program. The boxes are distributed free of charge on a first-come, first-served basis, and are available to all individuals. Recipients need not have children enrolled in the school district. More than 900 family food boxes were distributed last Friday in Newman. The food boxes are distributed each Friday from 11 a.m. to noon at Hunt Elementary, Von Renner Elementary, Hurd Barrington Elementary and Yolo Middle School. Above, Hunt School staff members distributed food boxes Friday. In addition, the family food boxes are being distributed by the Gustine Traveling Library organization in partnership with the NCLUSD. Organizer Zachery Ramos said distribution will take place at 10 a.m. Fridays at the Schmidt Park parking lot off Meredith Avenue. He asked that people not begin lining up until 9:30 a.m.
