Newman Police Department

Activity Report

The Newman Police Department received 74 calls for service and reported 106 officer-initiated calls for a total of 180 incidents between Sept. 9 to Sept. 15. The department had 34 cases opened and made 20 arrests. There were 19 traffic citations issued, three criminal citations, 16 parking citations and nine vehicles towed.

 

Vandalism

A Crows Landing man was arrested for vandalism after damaging a garage in order to gain entry, the Newman Police Department reported.

On Sept. 11, a homeowner returned to his home in the 1400 block of Q Street to find the garage door open and a man inside the garage rolling up a tarp. The man, later identified as Daniel Avalos, 40, of Crows Landing was told to leave by the homeowner and he complied.

The homeowner contact the police department. He stated the garage had been locked and that Avalos had gained entry by breaking the railing.

As the homeowner was talking with the officer, Avalos returned to the garage and was taken into custody.

Arrests

Luis Rios Bautista, 40, of Newman was arrested on Sept. 9 for driving on a suspended license.

Jesus Avila, 27, of Newman was arrested on Sept. 10 for driving on a suspended license.

Yajaira Magana, 24, of Newman was arrested on Sept. 10 for a warrant.

Marta Vasquez, 52, of Livingston was arrested on Sept. 11 for a DUI and a DUI of .08 or more.

Daniel Avalos, 40, of Crows Landing was arrested on Sept. 11 for vandalism.

Fredi Juarez Rosas, 31, of Turlock was arrested on Sept. 11 for being an unlicensed driver.

Angelica Ledezma, 21, of Newman was arrested on Sept. 12 for being an unlicensed driver.

Jose Mendoza, 43, of Newman was arrested on Sept. 13 for a warrant.

Orlando Vizcarra Viedas, 44, of Newman was arrested on Sept. 13 for being an unlicensed driver.

Stacy Gomez, 34, of Newman was arrested on Sept. 13 for warrants.

Juan Lopez, 42, of Newman was arrested on Sept. 13 for driving on a suspended license.

Alexis Mora Caballero, 19, of Gustine was arrested on Sept. 14 for being an unlicensed driver.

Genove Lopez Mantar, 29, of Newman was arrested on Sept. 14 for being an unlicensed driver.

Luis Castro, 29, of Newman was arrested on Sept. 14 for being an unlicensed driver.

Victoria White, 46, of Newman was arrested on Sept. 14 for driving on a suspended license.

Aljehibi Cota Noguez, 22, of Gustine was arrested on Sept. 14 for being an unlicensed driver.

An unnamed 25-year-old Newman man was arrested on Sept. 14 for battery.

Jesus Avila, 27, of Newman was arrested on Sept. 15 for being an unlicensed driver.

Mayra Villagrana, 36, of Patterson was arrested on Sept. 15 for being an unlicensed driver.

Rigoberto Cornejo, 43, of Newman was arrested on Sept. 15 for possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of a controlled substance.

Activity Report

Sept. 12

Vandalism was reported at 9:26 a.m. on 4th Avenue.

A traffic collision was reported at 2:29 p.m. on North Avenue.

An assault and battery was reported at 7:55 p.m. on 2nd Street.

 

Sept. 14

A disturbance was reported at 11:41 a.m. at Gustine High School.

A hit and run with no injuries was reported at 5:18 p.m. in the area of Highway 140 and 3rd Street.

 

Sept. 15

Trespassing was reported at 1:50 p.m. on 5th Street.

 

Sept. 16

Vandalism was reported at 8:23 p.m. on 6th Street.

 

Sept. 17 

Trespassing was reported at 4:15 p.m. on 7th Street.

Theft was reported at 7:25 p.m. at the O’Reilly Auto Parts store on 4th Street. The suspect stole a battery charger. He was described as a Hispanic or White adult male with dark hair. He stood about 5 feet 8 inches tall and weighed around 160 pounds. He fled on foot and jumped a fence near the railroad tracks.

 

Arrests

Armando Sepulveda, 27, was arrested on Sept. 15 in the 800 block of Linden Avenue for possession of drug paraphernalia.

James Joseph Perry Jr., 43 was arrested on Sept. 15 in the 400 block of 1st Street for possession of drug paraphernalia and a warrant.

Edwin Sylvester Martinez, 34 was arrested on Sept. 15 in the 400 block of 5th Street for a warrant.
