A suspected drunk driver ran a stop sign at a rural intersection and collided with a semi truck, causing injuries to herself, her passengers and the Newman truck driver, the California Highway patrol reported.

The collision happened at 12:20 p.m. Friday at the intersection of Monte Vista Avenue and Central Avenue in the outskirts of Turlock. The intersection is a two-way stop.

The suspect drunk driver, Linzy Grajeda, 23, of Modesto, was driving a Kia Forte and ran the posted stop sign at an estimated 60 to 70 miles per hour, according to the CHP.

The Kia collided with a big rig, driven by Carlos Salazar Medina, 23, of Newman. The impact sent the truck off the road and through a fence on private property. Medina reported minor injuries to his head, back and knee, according to the CHP.

The Kia sustained major damages in the collision. Grajeda sustained a broken neck and is in critical condition. Her passengers, Dakotah Allsup, 21, of Modesto was taken by helicopter to Doctors Medical Center in Modesto with major injuries. Sasha Paper, 21, of Turlock sustained broken bones and was transported by ambulance to a nearby hospital. A 16-year-old girl in the Kia sustained moderate injuries, including facial lacerations.

At the time of the collision, Grajeda had her license suspended for a previous DUI conviction. She is facing new DUI and other charges for the Friday collision.
