Anniversary for traveling library

The Gustine Traveling Library will celebrate their five year anniversary from 2 p.m. to 10 p.m. Friday.

Guests can join the Gustine Traveling Library team and their partners to celebrate the fifth year anniversary in Gustine.

The event will take a look back at the past five years and the work the team has done in California and beyond to spread literacy while helping other communities. 

There will be food, drinks, and entertainment for the whole family.

Breast cancer fundraiser 

The Newman Police Department is selling a limited number of pink police patches to support breast cancer foundations.

These patches are available in the police department’s lobby during office hours and are $10 each, cash only.

Low cost animal clinic

The Newman Alternative to Euthanasia is hosting a low cost animal clinic from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Oct. 21 at Pioneer Park at Fresno and R streets.

Vouchers will be available at the clinic and will include vaccines, including rabies, microchip, license and spay or neuter voucher. Vouchers for dogs will be $150 and $75 for cats. If purchasing a voucher, do not bring pet.

The clinic will offer on-site rabies vaccine for $6; parvovirus/distemper vaccine for dogs $10; bordetella vaccine for dogs $10; microchip $20; feline leukemia vaccine $22; and FVR-CP $10. 

A dog license can be purchased for $150, or $12 if the dog is either spayed or neutered. Proof of spay or neuter must be provided.

Those 60 years and over get a 50% off license fee. 

All dogs must be on leashes and all cats in carriers.

The event will only take cash.
