To the editor:

This letter is concerning the prank at Gustine High School which occurred May 23.

The outcome was very unfortunate, and we would like it to be known that, while it has been branded a “senior prank,” the entirety of the senior class was not involved.

Forty-seven students, or about one-third of the class, were caught up in the events of that night. The act was committed by individuals, and in no way represents our class or what our class stands for.

No one will deny that 47 students is a lot, but there were 88 seniors who were not involved.

Most students were not associated with the prank, and their foresight and sense of responsibility should be recognized. It is unreasonable to allow the actions of a minority of the class to bear the brand of a “senior” action.

We are just as disappointed in these students as the community is, if not more so.

We hope that the entire Class of 2008 will be remembered for our accomplishments prior to this incident, not by the misconduct of certain individuals.

Claudia Vazquez, Class President

Christian Fernandez, Class Secretary

Mark Rasmussen, Class Treasurer
