Services with U.S. Navy military honors were held July 25 for Miguel Angel Ortiz II, 22, who passed away July 11 as a result of injuries suffered in a motorcycle accident.

Mr. Ortiz was a native of Camarillo.

He was a 2004 graduate of Waynesville (Mo.) High School, where he played football and soccer.

Mr. Ortiz enlisted in the U.S. Navy in August 2004. He was a Seabee serving with Naval Mobile Construction Battalion 40 in Port Hueneme.

He proudly served his country in Japan, Afghanistan, Iraq, Germany, Bulgaria and Romania.

Mr. Ortiz attained the rank of Builder Second Class (E-5).

Among his many surviving family members and friends are his father, Ronnie Ray King of Missouri; his mother, Teresita Espinosa King of Missouri, his grandparents David and Guadalupe Ortiz of Newman and his aunt, Mola Rodriguez of Newman.
