The Newman Chamber of Commerce will host its annual dinner, awards presentation and dance Saturday, Aug. 9, with a Western-themed gala at the L.J. Newman Memorial Building.

The evening will feature presentation of the John T. Silveira Award for outstanding service to the chamber and to the community. Manish Thakker will be this year’s recipient.

A new award honoring the area’s agricultural leaders will be presented as well this year. Jim Jasper will receive the inaugural Agriculturalist of the Year award, according to chamber officials.

The chamber program will also include beautification awards, and recognition of local 4-H and FFA members.

Festivities begin with a no-host social hour at 6 p.m., followed by dinner at 7, the awards program and dance.

Morganti Catering will provide the dinner.

Organizers encourage those planning to attend to purchase tickets no later than Monday, Aug. 4.
