NEWMAN – The city of Newman will host its annual fall cleanup next week, Oct. 13-18.

Residents may dispose of unwanted household items free of charge at the cleanup site, located at 1420 M St.

Hours are 8 a.m. to 3:50 p.m. Monday, Tuesday, Friday and Saturday, and 8 a.m. to 6:20 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday.

No refrigerators,computer monitors or televisions will be accepted.

Those utilizing the cleanup must verify residency by presenting a city of Newman utility bill and driver’s license.

Tire amnesty

Newman residents may also dispose of unwanted tires, which can be dropped off at the city corporation yard, 712 Fresno St. Hours are noon to 4 p.m. Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday; noon to 6 p.m. Wednesday; and 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday.

A maximum of nine passenger vehicle tires may be disposed of. Rims will not be accepted.

Household hazardous waste

A household hazardous waste collection will be offered Oct. 17-18 at the city corporation yard.

It is open to all Stanislaus County residents.

Collection hours are 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Acceptable items include waste oil, car batteries, anti-freeze, solvents, paint products, drain cleaners, roof tar, insecticides, herbicides, dormant sprays, fertilizers, fungicides, charcoal lighter fluid, pool chemicals, gasoline, batteries and aerosol products.
