To the editor:

I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who helped make the News 10 Coats for Kids drive a huge success.

There were 40,522 coats donated, including 312 from our community.

We would like to thank Mike Borge from Borge’s Glass. His donation of boxes for collecting the coats was very generous. I would also like to thank the students from Yolo, Von Renner, Bonita and Hunt schools who decorated the boxes with the News 10 Coats for Kids logo.

The decorations really made the boxes stand out and get noticed.

I would also like to thank my parents, George and Doris Schmidt, who took several bags of coats to Turlock and dropped them off for me.

Because of all the efforts made, thousands of people now have a warm coat to wear just in time for the extremely cold weather.

Thank you all for participating and making this happen.

Claire Patereau

After-School Program Coordinator,

Newman-Crows Landing Unified School District
