To the editor:

We would like to take the opportunity to shed some light on the experience and qualifications of Kathy McWilliams as the leader of Yolo Middle School. Her possible removal from the principalship raises many questions and concerns given her vast educational background.

Prior to beginning employment as a teacher in the Newman-Crows Landing Unified School District in 1986, she served as an instructional aide for approximately six years--first as a migrant aide and then as an aide in special education. From 1986-2000, Mrs. McWilliams gained valuable experience and made strong contributions to Yolo Middle School as a special educator and as a sixth-grade CORE teacher. During this time, she took part on various committees and teams to further enhance her overall ability to understand the inner workings of our school.

From 2000 to present, Mrs. McWilliams has been an administrator at Yolo Middle School, serving first as the vice principal and then stepping into the position of principal. Whether serving as a vice principal or principal, her deep knowledge of middle school curriculum and successful educational strategies have benefited the Yolo students and staff.

In summary, Kathy McWilliams has been a huge cog in the Yolo wheel. As a teacher, she was fair and effective while her students enjoyed being there. As an administrator, she has quietly led the school and supported her staff, seeking no personal glory in the process. Due to the outstanding qualities that

Mrs. McWilliams possesses, the undersigned staff members strongly support her continued role as principal at Yolo Middle School.

We feel as parents there are alot of conflicts of interest here, How often do you see the wife as Principle telling the Vice Principle of the high school what classes these kids are going to take, sounds like a huge conflict of interest, Now you can't even pass state tests,,,this will follow the kids to the High School, then whos fault will it be? Keep cleaning house Superintendent Fauss, You are the man to do it and you have the families behind you!! You are doing a fantastic job!!

Who's "we"? I'm a parent and think this is a terrible, shameful move by the board.

Lat me guess, you are married to or related somehow to someone either making this decision or benefiting by it.

What a shock!

Fauss is a pathetic superintndent who is trying to surround himself with people who wont try to take his job. Try to get a hold of him if you have a problem with one of the schools, all you will get is his voicemail and no return call.
