West Park benefits will far outweight burdens PDF Print E-mail

To the editor:

I think it is time for West Side residents to put things in perspective. The economic hardships that all Stanislaus County residents are facing are real, and they are only going to get worse. I understand that they are being asked to take on a perceived burden of six trains a day through their community.

Nevertheless, it is nothing in comparison to the number of trains which travel through other cities in the county.

It seems to me that the small inconvenience of a little more traffic and a few trains, as a trade-off to jobs and tax revenues to help the struggling families in this county, is a small burden to bear in comparison to the potential benefits.

I urge West Side residents to take a moment to put things in perspective and realize that opposing West Park will hurt this county irrevocably.

The more teamwork and resources pooled together would make a difference for now and into the future. We need to be flexible and hopeful to develop a more prosperous, conveniently efficient and productive future for ourselves.

Ask yourself...What would this County have done without Kamilos? This guy doesn't walk on water! He's never done anything but build houses, now mindless idiots will have you believe that he is the County's saving grace.Trashing the West side and buying off politicians is not the answer to economic development. The County's 30 day RFP was concocted to ensure we had only 2 choices for redevelopment of the base. Kamilos come up with a number to wow the weak masses into submission. Those that worked 7 years to see the base produce jobs were ignored in the decision. Kamilos wasn't even close to getting the votes by the steering committee, of course he hadn't bothered to buy any of them off, his efforts were on the Board of Supes, Governor, Assembly, Senate & Congress. So much for local control.
