To the editor:

I was shocked to learn the city has scuttled the plan to use the beautiful old Victorian Yancey building as a part of its downtown plaza.

This building is a part of the heritage of this town. It was my understanding that it was moved to Newman from Hills Ferry and is one of our oldest buildings.

We have lost far too many of our old buildings to the wrecking ball already.

I wonder who makes these decisions with no input from the community as a whole.

I know there are many other people who feel as I do about the preservation of this heritage, and my hope is that they will step up and make their wishes known before it is too late.

Please rethink this decision!
