Newman fire report

Personnel from the Newman Fire Department/West Stanislaus Fire Protection District Newman station responded to 18 calls for service from April 15-21. Fire Chief Keith Bowen said the calls included three public assists, 12 medical aid responses, two vegetation fires and one motor vehicle collision.

Bowen said the vehicle accident occurred Saturday, April 20, shortly before 1 p.m. on Highway 33 at Orestimba Creek and resulted in one individual being flown to an area trauma center with complaint of moderate injuries.

Newman resident Marge Carvalho, an observer for the National Weather Service, reported the following high/low temperatures for the past week. Readings for the previous 24-hour period are taken at 5 p.m. daily.
