Newman fire report
Personnel from the Newman Volunteer Fire Department and West Stanislaus Fire Protection District’s Newman station responded to 20 calls from Oct. 8-14, according to Fire Chief Keith Bowen.
Bowen said the calls included one potential structure fire, five public assists, 12 medical aid calls, one vehicle fire and one motor vehicle collision.
The potential structure fire involved an Oct. 13 call in the 1300 block of Angelina Ave. in which firefighters arrived to find that a stove fire had been extinguished. Bowen said the damage was estimated at $1,000.
On Oct. 11, local firefighters responded to provide mutual aid to a three-vehicle collision on Crows Landing Road at the San Joaquin River. Bowen reported that an occupant of one of the vehicles was flown to a local trauma center prior to the arrival of Newman station personnel.
