Water leak

Crews worked several hours Saturday to repair a major water line leak on Highway 33 near Linden Avenue in Gustine. Public works crews were notified of the ruptured eight-inch main around 1 a.m., and at 6 a.m. sharply reduced pressure throughout the system to make the repairs. Water service was restored around 12:30 p.m., Public Works Superintendent Dennis Castro reported. An advisory boil notice was issued to restaurants and businesses as a precaution, Castro said, but was lifted at mid-afternoon Sunday after lab tests confirmed that no bacteria was present in the system.

Airport commission appointments

Four people were appointed last week to the Gustine Airport Commission.

Five candidates spoke briefly before the City Council before Mayor Pat Nagy made his appointments, which were confirmed by a vote of the council.

Julie Anderson, whose term on the commission had expired, was reappointed to the advisory board.

The council also appointed applicants Robert Villalobos, Doug Lucas and David Craig to the commission.

Zachery Ramos had also applied for appointment.
