A call about a possible auto burglary in a Gustine park led to the arrest of two individuals found with methamphetamine in their possession.
At 10:50 a.m. Aug. 26, the Gustine Police Department dispatched two officers to Harry Schmidt Park after receiving a call of a possible auto burglary in progress. The caller included a description of the vehicle.
As two officers were responding to the park they noticed a vehicle matching that of the one described by the witness pull into the McDonald’s parking lot at 430 First Avenue.
Officers made an investigative stop of the vehicle and made contact with two individuals — Janelly Carillo Soto, 29, of Santa Nella and Macario Chavez, 30, of Gustine.
The officers didn’t find any evidence of an auto burglary, but did find 10 grams of methamphetamine in the vehicle.
Both Soto and Chavez were arrested on suspicion of possession of a controlled substance. They were eventually cited and released.
