Officers conferred Saturday outside the Q Street home in Newman where five people were arrested on felony charges alleging child endangerment and elder abuse.

Newman police and Stanislaus County sheriff’s deputies arrested five Newman residents on felony charges of child endangerment and elder abuse Saturday following a probation compliance check at a residence in the 1100 block of Q Street.

According to Newman Police, officers found the interior and exterior to be in extreme disarray and determined that six adults and eight children were living in unsanitary conditions on the premises.

Police said the children and one adult, who had been living in a garage at that address, were removed.

Officials said that Newman police took Victoria R. Davis, 57, into custody.

Sheriff’s deputies arrested four other adults at that location. They were identified by authorities as Ronny P. Soares, 46; Johnny R. Davis, 39; Teddy J. Davis, 40; and Holly L. Davis, 36.
