Patterson vaccine clinic open Friday

Stanislaus County Public Health officials announced earlier this week that the COVID-19 vaccine clinic in Patterson is scheduled to be open Friday, Feb. 26, from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. for distribution of first and second doses.

Vaccine supplies are limited and will be available to individuals identified in Phase 1A, seniors 65 and older, and individuals ages 50 and older in the sectors of education, food and agriculture and emergency services.

Vaccines are distributed on a first come, first served basis.

The vaccine clinic is located in the Hammon Senior Center, 1033 W. Las Palmas Ave., Patterson.

Newman Nature Park workshop

The second of two virtual public workshops on the proposed Newman Nature Park will be held tonight (Thursday, Feb. 25) at 6 p.m.

The park is planned as part of a 78-acre, city-owned property east of Canal School Road and north of Brazo Road which will serve a variety of purposes.

Community members offered their thoughts on the desired park amenities and features during a workshop earlier this month.

Consultants said at the time that they will incorporate that feedback and present conceptual plans for discussion at tonight’s workshop. A preferred plan will be presented to the City Council for consideration at its March 9 meeting.

Newman fire report

Personnel from the Newman Fire Department and West Stanislaus Fire Protection District’s Newman station responded to 19 calls for service from Feb. 13-18.

Fire Chief Keith Bowen said responses included one illegal burn, 11 medical aid calls, one carbon monoxide alarm, three public assists, one residential alarm and two “other” calls.
