An annual event that started in 2018 at Gustine High School, Senior Signing Day is when all the seniors at GHS come together and represent their plans for after graduation. Most students choose to join the workforce, community college, university, trade school, tech school, or the military.

This year GHS has over 106 students committed to the next step. The counselors, Ashley Ramirez and Daisy Zagazeta were the chairmen of this event. Ms. Ramirez shared “We would like to acknowledge the dedication and commitment students have made to their future. This is truly the next step in their journey and we are happy to be able to highlight this time in their lives. We are proud of them all! Go Reds!”

Mrs. Zagazeta would like to add, “We are proud of our students who committed to various universities throughout the United States and even into other countries. Their dedication in school has proven to be fruitful by providing them with a variety of opportunities. Other students committed to joining the workforce and we are equally as proud of them. Congrats class of 2023! Gustine High School is making a difference!”

There will be students attending Adrian’s Beauty School, Cabrillo College, Cal Poly, CSU Monterey Bay, CSU Stanislaus, Cypress College, Fresno State University, Institute of Technology, Merced Junior College, Modesto Junior College, Monterey Peninsula College, Montrer University in México, Northwest Lineman College, Northwood Technical College, Oklahoma State University, Oregon Institute of Technology, Sacramento State University, San Francisco State University, Simpson University, UC Berkeley, UC Davis, UC Merced, National Guard, Northern Arizona, UC Irvine, CSU Chico, Workforce, and  California State FFA Association.

Student athlete Giovanny Torres Del Toro is committed to Simpson University to major in Business Administration & Marketing as well as continue his football career. Giovanny has been playing football for seven years and is looking forward to competing and pushing himself beyond what it takes to succeed on and off the field. “I chose the school because I enjoyed the energy and environment when I attended my visit, met all the coaches who were all very friendly, and made me feel like it’s going to be an exciting journey. This choice has me beyond excited because it’s a new step to get used to, even with the struggles I know I can do it,” Torres said. “I’d like to acknowledge my past coaches, friends, and family for pushing me to get here. Without their support, I wouldn’t have had the motivation and mindset to keep going” Torres added.

ASB President Patty Garcia Gomez is committed to Stanislaus State University where she was accepted into their amazing nursing program. Patty is excited to continue her studies at the next level and be able to experience college life. “I am excited to start this new chapter in my life because it is something that I’ve looked forward to, for as long as I can remember. I would like to thank my parents for always supporting me in every decision I make. As well as my sisters who have served as my role model. Last, but certainly not least, the GHS Staff because they have allowed me to venture out and have the best high school experience” Garcia Gomez said.

Senior Alexander Ramirez will be attending Northwest Lineman College in the fall to become a certified lineman. “I picked this school because I can become a lineman in a short period of time and it prepares you for real life experience” Ramirez stated. Alex is looking forward to building his skills and being able to work anywhere while providing for himself with the skills he will learn. “I’m excited to attend Northwest Lineman College to see what my future holds in a new environment. I would like to thank my parents and my siblings for supporting me throughout this journey,” Ramirez added.

As the graduating Class of 2023 goes through their final three weeks of school, they will participate in many activities to commemorate their time there at GHS. After four years, their time is coming to an end and they will do great in their future endeavors.
