A Stanislaus County project will extend municipal water service to West Mariposa Street residents who have been relying on hauled water deliveries and temporary storage tanks since their wells went dry in the depths of California’s severe drought several years ago. The project, funded by a federal grant, will install nearly 1,100 feet of water main and 10 service connections to the area. The new main will connect the homes, which are located outside the city limits, to Newman’s municipal water system. The estimated completion date of the project is Sept. 2.
