Commercial burglary

Newman police said a break-in was reported Oct. 23 at Joe’s Landscaping and Concrete on Inyo Avenue.

Police said a safe and money from the cash register were reported stolen. The loss was estimated at $10,500.

Authorities said entry was gained by throwing a brick through a glass front door to the office area.

Larceny

Police said a garbage tote valued at $75 was reported stolen Oct. 21 from a residence in the 1100 block of Q Street.

Arrests

The following were among arrests reported by Newman police from Oct. 21-27. The arrest report includes incidents in which an individual was released on citation as well as cases in which a suspect was booked.

Markus Cotton, 23, of Sacramento, was arrested Oct. 21 on a misdemeanor charge of driving on a suspended license.

Randy R. Heldstab, 36, of Newman, was arrested Oct. 22 on a misdemeanor charge of possession of a controlled substance.

Shaun A. Wheeling, 37, of Patterson, was arrested Oct. 22 on misdemeanor charges of drug possession and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Osvaldo Mendez Arroyo, 42, of Newman, was arrested Oct. 22 on a misdemeanor charge of obstructing a police officer.

Blanca E. Gonzalez Mendoza, 19, of Newman, was arrested Oct. 23 on a misdemeanor charge of driving without a license.

Jesus Morales Gallardo, 28, of Newman, was arrested Oct. 23 on a misdemeanor charge of driving on a license suspended for DUI.

Efrain Gutierrez Hernandez, 31, of Newman, was arrested Oct. 24 on a misdemeanor charge of driving without a license.

Serina D. Costa, 37, of Newman, was arrested Oct. 25 on a misdemeanor charge of driving on a license suspended for DUI.

Alejandro C. Soto, 28, of Emeryville, was arrested Oct. 27 on misdemeanor charges of drug possession and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Activity report

Newman police received 86 calls for service, reported 99 officer-initiated incidents, handled 30 cases, made 13 arrests, issued 20 traffic citations and wrote two parking tickets from Oct. 21-27, according to the department’s activity report.

GUSTINE POLICE

Theft

Gustine police said a go-kart valued at $3,000 was reported stolen Oct. 21 from a garage in the 1200 block of South Avenue.

Vandalism

Police said tires on a vehicle in in the 300 block of Wallis were slashed in an incident reported Oct. 21. No damage estimate was listed.

Weapon found

Gustine police reported that an unloaded .45 caliber semi-auto Citadel handgun was found Tuesday morning, Oct. 29, on a gravel parking lot in the 700 block of East Avenue and recovered by police. The weapon was determined to be unregistered and was booked into evidence as found property. It was found in the vicinity of a school bus stop, police reported.

The following were among arrests reported by Gustine police from Oct. 21-28. The arrest report includes incidents in which an individual was released on citation as well as cases in which a suspect was booked.

Helen Baer, 41, of Gustine, was arrested Oct. 26 on a misdemeanor charge of driving on a suspended license.

Jorge L. Cabrera Silva, 36, was arrested Oct. 26 on a misdemeanor charge of disorderly conduct.

A 24-year-old Newman female was arrested Oct. 27 on a misdemeanor domestic violence charge.

Joshua L. Price, 38, of Newman, was arrested Oct. 28 on a misdemeanor charge of driving on a suspended license.

Activity report

Gustine police received 86 calls for service, reported 148 officer-initiated incidents, handled 19 cases, made six arrests and issued three traffic ciations from Oct. 21-28, according to the department’s activity report.
