Burglary arrest

Newman police said a 16-year-old male juvenile was arrested Oct. 28 on felony charges after allegedly burglarizing a home in the 400 block of Sumac Lane.

Police said officers responding to a report from a resident who was hiding in a closet but could hear somebody inside the home arrived to see an individual jump a fence at the property.

Officers detained the suspect, and in an adjacent yard recovered a number of items taken from the home, including electronics, a purse and wallet, alcohol and wrist watches.

Police said the juvenile was booked on a burglary charge.

Vandalism cases

Police said two vandalism cases were reported last week.

A vehicle in the 900 block of Lee Avenue was scratched in an incident reported Oct. 30.

Graffiti at a construction site in the 600 block of St. Helena Drive was reported Nov. 1.

No damage estimate was listed in either case.

Cannabis taken

Police said cannabis products valued at $3,460 were reported stolen Oct. 28 from a home in the 1100 block of Stoneglen.

Theft

Newman police said a pressure washer valued at $300 was reported stolen Nov. 1 from an open garage at a home in the 700 block of Whitechurch Way.

Arrests

The following were among additional arrests reported by Newman police from Oct. 28 to Nov. 3. The arrest report includes incidents in which an individual was released on citation as well as cases in which a suspect was booked.

Octavio Gonzalez Garcia, 25, of Newman, was arrested Oct. 28 on misdemeanor charges of drug possession and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Jericha Bernardo, 29, of Newman, was arrested Oct. 29 on a misdemeanor charge of driving without a license.

Theresa Cruz, 57, of Newman, was arrested Oct. 29 on a misdemeanor charge of driving on a suspended or revoked license.

Jose Valenzuela Rivas, 40, of Newman, was arrested Oct. 30 on a misdemeanor charge of driving without a license.

Jessie Sicairos, 35, of Gustine, was arrested Oct. 30 on a misdemeanor charge of driving on a license suspended for DUI.

Sarah E. Buster, 47, of Turlock, was arrested Oct. 31 on a misdemeanor charge of driving on a suspended or revoked license.

A 15-year-old Newman male was arrested Nov. 1 on a felony assault charge.

Jose A. Esparza, 39, of Newman, was arrested Nov. 3 on a misdemeanor battery charge.

Byron J. Reid IV, 64, of Newman, was arrested Nov. 3 on a misdemeanor charge of driving without a license.

Activity report

Newman police received 85 calls for service, reported 69 officer-initiated incidents, handled 23 cases, made 12 arrests, issued 12 traffic citations and wrote one parking ticket from Oct. 28 through Nov. 3, according to the department’s activity report.

GUSTINE POLICE

Brandishing incident

An employee of the Smoke Shop and Outlet in Gustine reported Nov. 1 that an individual he confronted about stealing from the business pulled a knife on the employee and left the premises.

Burglary

An iPad was reported stolen Nov. 1 from a residence in the 700 block of Linden. No value was listed.

Arrests

The following were among arrests reported by Gustine police from Oct. 28 through Nov. 4. The arrest report includes incidents in which an individual was released on citation as well as cases in which a suspect was booked.

Bernardo Galvan Rivas, 37, of Turlock, was arrested Oct. 28 on a misdemeanor charge of driving without a license.

Leonardo Orozco, 28, of Gustine, was arrested Oct. 30 on a misdemeanor charge of driving without a license.

Pamela E. Gibbs, 63, of Gustine, was arrested Oct. 31 on a misdemeanor charge of driving without a license.

A 30-year-old Gustine male was arrested Nov. 2 on misdemeanor charges relating to domestic violence.

Jose D. Partida Jr., 22, of Newman, was arrested Nov. 2 on a misdemeanor charge of reckless driving.

A 17-year-old Gustine male was arrested Nov. 2 on a felony charge of attempted burglary and a misdemeanor charge of obstructing an officer.

A 14-year-old Gustine female was arrested Nov. 3 on a misdemeanor charge of being a minor in possession of alcohol.

A 24-year-old Gustine female was arrested Nov. 3 on charges relating to domestic violence.

Activity report

Gustine police received 90 calls for service, reported 139 officer-initiated incidents, handled 20 cases and issued six traffic citations from Oct. 28 through Nov. 4, according to the department’s activity report.
