Vandalism cases

Newman police said two vandalism cases were reported Feb. 26.

A window of a vehicle in the 1300 block of Eucalyptus was broken out with a BB gun. Damage was estimated at $400.

A vehicle in the 1500 block of Sandy Creek was keyed, resulting in damage estimated at $1,500.

Vehicle burglary

Police said a touchscreen stereo was reported stolen Feb. 26 from a vehicle in the 700 block of Balsam Drive. The loss was estimated at $250.

Vehicle stolen, recovered

Authorities said a 2004 Chevrolet 2500 pickup truck was reported stolen Feb. 26 from the 1200 block of Brant Court. Police said the vehicle was recovered later that day on Freitas Road with a damaged ignitition. Damage to the vehicle was estimated at $1,000. Tools were reported missing from the vehicle. No estimated value of the tools was listed.

Arrests

The following arrests were reported by Newman police from Feb. 24 through March 1. The arrest report includes incidents in which an individual was released on citation as well as cases in which a suspect was booked.

Andrew L. Soto, 31, of Turlock, was arrested Feb. 24 on a misdemeanor charge of disorderly conduct.

Jesus M. Sodia Jr., 36, of Newman, was arrested Feb. 25 on misdemeanor charges of possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Jack A. Girvin III, 39, of Turlock, was arrested Feb. 26 on a misdemeanor charge of driving on a suspended or revoked license.

Juan Rodriguez Jr., 26, of Newman, was arrested Feb. 26 on misdemeanor charges of vandalism and obstructing an officer.

A 15-year-old Newman male was arrested Feb. 26 on a misdemeanor charge of driving without a license.

Esteban M. Navarro, 45, of Los Banos, was arrested Feb. 28 on a misdemeanor charge of displaying false vehicle registration.

Jason A. Lopez Delos Santos, 19, of Newman, was arrested Feb. 29 on misdemeanor charges of disorderly conduct and obstructing a police officer.

Rudy Martinez, 18, of Newman, was arrested Feb. 29 on a misdemeanor charge of disorderly conduct.

Saul Perez Mantar, 24, of Newman, was arrested March 1 on a felony warrant out of Stanislaus County Superior Court.

Activity report

Newman police received 90 calls for service, reported 65 officer-initiated incidents, handled 31 cases, made 11 arrests, wrote eight traffic citations and issued two parking tickets from Feb. 24 through March 1, according to the department’s activity report.

GUSTINE POLICE

City equipment stolen

Gustine police said a number of tools were reported stolen March 2 from the city’s corporation yard on South Avenue. Two jack hammers and a trash pump were reported stolen. The loss was estimated to be just over $3,000.

Theft

Gustine police said ammunition valued at $1,000 was reported stolen Feb. 25 from an address in the 1500 block of Lucerne Avenue.

Vehicle burglary

Authorities said miscellaneous items were reported Feb. 25 from a vehicle in the 1500 block of Lucerne Avenue. The loss was estimated at $95.

Vehicle thefts

Authorities said two vehicles were reported stolen Feb. 26.

Gustine police said a 1994 Honda Accord reported stolen from the 300 block of Sherwood was subsequently recovered by Los Banos CHP, with a suspect in custody.

A 2000 Chevrolet Silverado was reported stolen from the 100 block of Second Street. The vehicle had not been recovered as of Tuesday morning.

Parks vandalized

Gustine police said vandalism to two city parks was reported last week. Extensive damage to the barbecue pit in Henry Miller Park was discovered Feb. 29. No damage estimate was listed.

The baseball equipment shed in Schmidt Park was vandalized in an incident reported March 1. Nothing was reported stolen. Damage was estimated at $100.

Fraud case

Gustine police said a resident reported being defrauded of $1,000 in a recent scam. The victim purchased eBay cards to pay for a vehicle that he did not receive, police reported.

Vehicle vandalism

Authorities said a vehicle in the 1600 block of Via Italiano was vandalized in an incident reported Feb. 29. The driver’s door was vandalized, causing damage estimated at $500.

Arrests

The following were among arrests reported by Gustine police from Feb. 25 through March 2. The arrest report includes incidents in which an individual was released on citation as well as cases in which a subject was booked.

Dulce C. Morfin Magana, 25, of Gustine, was arrested Feb. 26 on a misdemeanor charge of exhibiting a deadly weapon other than a firearm.

Blanca Bojorquez, 36, of Newman, was arrested Feb. 26 on a misdemeanor DUI charge.

Mishael Cano Camacho, 26, of Clovis, was arrested Feb. 29 on felony charges of making criminal threats, bringing a controlled substance into a jail and possession of a controlled substance, as well as misdemeanor vandalism.

James Gutierrez Guzman, 23, of Los Banos, was arrested March 1 on a misdemeanor charge of driving without a license.

Activity report

Gustine police received 62 calls for service, reported 119 officer-initiated incidents, handled 24 cases, made five arrests, wrote three traffic tickets and issued two parking citations from Feb. 25 through March 2, according to the department’s activity report.

Weekly arrest and incident reports are provided by the Newman and Gustine police departments. Charges may have been dropped as of press time. All suspects are presumed to be innocent until proven guilty.
