Assault

Police said an assult was reported Nov. 19 in the West Side Marketplace Shopping Center parking lot. Police said a group of three males reportedly called out from a vehicle to three juveniles as they were entering Rite Aid. Two juvenile males responded, police said, at which time the suspects exited their vehicle and asked if the juveniles were “gang bangers.” When they answered that they were not, police said, one of the juveniles was punched in the face - at which time his friend intervened and struck the individual who had punched his friend. The suspects returned to their vehicle and left the area, police reported.

Break-in reported

Newman police said a Marapole Court residence was broken into in an incident reported Nov. 18. A garage door was forced open in that incident, police said. No property loss was reported from the vacant home, according to authorities.

Arrests

The following were among arrests reported by Newman police from Nov. 18-24. The arrest report includes incidents in which an individual was released on citation as well as cases in which a suspect was booked.

Nathan J. Bento, 26, of Newman, was arrested Nov. 18 on misdemeanor charges of obstructing a police officer and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Eduardo L. Parra, 28, of Newman, was arrested Nov. 24 on a felony charge of bringing a controlled substance into a jail.

Christian Delgado, 22, of Newman, was arrested Nov. 24 on a misdemeanor charge of driving without a license.

Jaime R. Palacios, 50, of Newman, was arrested Nov. 24 on a misdemeanor charge of driving on a suspended or revoked license.

Activity report

Newman police received 74 calls for service, reported 57 officer-initiated incidents, handled 18 cases, made five arrests, issued seven traffic citations, wrote four parking tickets and issued one animal-related citations from Nov. 18-24, according to the department’s activity report.

GUSTINE POLICE

Arrests

The following were among arrests reported by Gustine police from Nov. 19-24. The arrest report includes incidents in which an individual was released on citation as well as cases in which a suspect was booked.

Bobby Rivera, 32, of Gustine was arrested Nov. 23 on a misdemeanor charge of driving on a license suspended for DUI.

Jose Navarro Moreno, 41, of Gustine, was arrested Nov. 24 on a misdemeanor charge of driving on a suspended license.

Ricardo R. Perez Jr., 19, of Hollister, was arrested Nov. 24 on a felony charge of vehicle theft and a misdemeanor charge of driving without a license.

Activity report

Gustine police received 39 calls for service, reported 136 officer-initiated incidents, handled 11 cases, made four arrests, wrote two traffic citations and issued 25 parking tickets from Nov. 19-24, according to the department’s activity report.
