Burglary cases

Newman police said two commercial burglary cases were reported Feb. 5.

Authorities said a door at Napa Auto Parts in the 1200 block of Main Street was pried open. Nobody was found inside by officers responding to an alarm, according to police reports, and nothing appeared to have been taken from the store. Police said security video showed an individual prying the door opening with what appears to be a crow bar and then running away from the scene rather than entering the building. The incident occurred at about 1 a.m.

Police said a burglary was reported at Yancey Lumber shortly after 6 a.m. Police said no additional information was available on that incident as of Tuesday morning.

Vehicle burglary

Police said a variety of tools were reported stolen Feb. 7 from a vehicle parked in the area of Edinburgh Way and Tivoli Drive. The loss was estimated at $400-$500.

Larceny

Authorities said a recycling container valued at $75 was reported stolen Feb. 4 from the 1200 block of S Street.

Vehicle theft

Police said a 1995 Honda Civic was reported stolen Feb. 7 from the parking lot of San Luis Care Center.

Arrests

The following were among arrests reported by Newman police from Feb. 2-7. The arrest report includes incidents in which an individual was released on citation as well as cases in which a suspect was booked.

Richard Gallegos, 23, of Turlock, was arrested Feb. 3 on a misdemeanor charge of driving without a license.

A 13-year-old Oakdale male was arrested Feb. 3 on a misdemeanor charge of driving without a license.

Jose Mendoza, 26, of Ceres, was arrested Feb. 4 on a misdemeanor charge of driving without a license.

Wesley E. Pfister Jr., 31, of Patterson, was arrested Feb. 5 on misdemeanor charges of driving without a license and drug possession.

A 14-year-old Modesto male was arrested Feb. 7 on a misdemeanor charge of driving without a license.

A 17-year-old Newman male was arrested Feb. 7 on a misdemeanor charge of driving without a license.

Activity report

Newman police received 77 calls for service, reported 65 officer-initiated incidents, handled 19 cases, made six arrests and issued 14 traffic citations from Feb. 2-7, according to the department’s activity report.

GUSTINE POLICE 

Stolen vehicle

Gustine police said a 1997 Honda Accord was reported stolen Feb. 5 from the 100 block of Via Jodi. The vehicle had not been recovered as of Tuesday morning.

Fence damaged

Police reported that a fence in the 400 block of Second Street was damaged, apparently by a collision with a vehicle, in an incident reported Feb. 6. No damage estimate was reported.

Vehicle burglary

Police said miscellaneous items, including cash and credit cards, were reported stolen Feb. 3 from a vehicle in the 1400 block of Meredith. The loss was estimated at $1,600.

Arrests

The following were among arrests reported by Gustine police from Feb. 2-8.

A 49-year-old Gustine resident was arrested Feb. 2 on a felony domestic violence charge.

A 51-year-old Gustine resident was arrested Feb. 2 on a felony domestic violence charge.

Fabien Lazaro Gomez, 38, of Los Banos, was arrested Feb. 6 on a misdemeanor charge of driving without a license.

Michael R. Wright, 19, of Gustine, was arrested Feb. 8 on a felony warrant.

Activity report

Gustine police received 45 calls for service, reported 69 officer-initiated incidents, handled 13 cases, made four arrests, wrote two traffic citations and issued one parking ticket from Feb. 2-8, according to the department’s activity report.
