Vandalism arrests

Authorities said three 15-year-old Newman males were arrested June 2 on misdemeanor vandalism charges.

According to police reports, the juveniles were identified through video surveillance as suspects in a May 31 vandalism incident at the city’s skate park. That tagging resulted in damage estimated at $1,500.

Authorities said the juveniles are also believed to be responsible for a number of additional tagging incidents in the community. 

Larceny cases

Newman police said two larceny cases were recently reported.

A bag containing miscellaneous tools was reported stolen June 3 from a truck in the 1200 block of Kern Street. The victim told police he saw a sedan park in front of his residence. A male exited the vehicle, walked over to the victim’s truck, took a bag containing the tools and drove away. The loss was estimated at $250.

A go-kart was reported stolen June 6 from the 800 block of Main Street. Video surveillance shows the go-kart being loaded into a white Nissan pickup at about 5 a.m., authorities said. The loss was estimated at $3,000.

Arrests

The following are among additional arrests reported by Newman police from June 1-7. The arrest report includes incidents in which an individual was released on citation as well as cases in which a suspect was booked.

Raul Marin Gutierrez, 43, of Newman, was arrested June 4 on a misdemeanor charge of driving on a suspended or revoked license.

A 32-year-old Newman male was arrested June 4 on a felony domestic violence charge.

Jarrad J. Joyce, 49, of Turlock, was arrested June 5 on a misdemeanor charge of theft by access card.

Activity report

Newman police received 83 calls for service, reported 44 officer-initiated incidents, handled 15 cases, made six arrests, issued four traffic citations and wrote two parking tickets from June 1-7, according to the department’s activity report.

GUSTINE POLICE

Burglary

Gustine police said a burglary was reported June 7 in the 700 block of Arbor Pointe. A safe was stolen in that incident. An exact amount of loss was unknown but exceeded $950, police said.

Store break-in

Police said a break-in was reported June 5 at the Gustine Chevron station. A glass door to the business was broken to gain entry. Nothing was reported stolen other than a partially consumed container of milk found nearby, police reported.

Theft

Police said a trash can was reported stolen June 2 from the front yard of a residence in the 500 block of Wallis. No value amount was listed.

Arrests

The following were among arrests reported by Gustine police from June 2-8. The arrest report includes incidents in which an individual was released on citation as well as cases in which a suspect was booked.

A 17-year-old Gustine male was arrested June 3 on misdemeanor charges of battery on a person and making criminal threats.

Melyssa Huerta, 41, of Newman, was arrested June 5 on a misdemeanor charge of driving on a suspended license.

Yolanda Vasquez, 38, of Gustine, was arrested June 5 on a misdemeanor charge of driving on a suspended license.

Angel Aguilar Garcia Jr., 38, of Gustine, was arrested June 6 on a felony warrant.

Gwenn K. Gregg, 42, of Turlock, was arrested June 7 on a misdemeanor charge of driving on a license suspended for DUI.

Laureano Araiza, 18, of Gustine, was arrested June 8 on a misdemeanor charge of violating a court order.

Activity report

Gustine police received 80 calls for service, reported 93 officer-initiated incidents, handled 19 cases, made six arrests, wrote nine traffic tickets and issued three parking citations from June 2-8, according to the department’s activity report.

Weekly arrest and incident reports are provided by the Newman and Gustine police departments. Charges may have been dropped as of press time. All suspects are presumed to be innocent until proven guilty.
