Vandalism reported

Newman police said a vehicle and garage door in the 1200 block of Kern Street were reported vandalized on April 30. No damage amount was listed.

Larceny

Police said a wallet was reported stolen April 28 from a vehicle in the 700 block of Foxglove. No value was listed.

Arrest in accident

Newman police said Maria D. Jimenez Ponce, 30, of Newman was arrested May 2 on suspicion of misdemeanor DUI following an accident in the 1200 block of Amy Drive. According to police reports, a vehicle driven by Ponce struck a parked vehicle, pushing it into a garage door.

Arrests

The following were among additional arrests reported by Newman police from April 27 to May 3. The arrest report includes incidents in which an individual was released on citation as well as cases in which a suspect was booked.

Randy R. Heldstab, 36, of Newman, was arrested April 27 on a misdemeanor charge of theft of utility services.

Jesus M. Sodia Jr., 36, of Newman, was arrested April 28 on felony charges of possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia, as well as a felony bench warrant out of Stanislaus County Superior Court.

Roman G. Sandoval, 44, of Newman, was arrested May 2 on a misdemeanor charge of willful cruelty to a child.

Activity report

Newman police received 73 calls for service, reported 42 officer-initiated incidents, handled 18 cases, made five arrests, issued one traffic citation and wrote four parking tickets from April 27 to May 3, according to the department’s activity report.

GUSTINE POLICE

Activity report

Gustine police received 56 calls for service, reported 109 officer-initiated incidents, handled four cases, made one arrest and wrote one parking citation from April 28 through May 4, according to the department’s activity report.

Weekly arrest and incident reports are provided by the Newman and Gustine police departments. Charges may have been dropped as of press time. All suspects are presumed to be innocent until proven guilty.
