Larceny

Newman police said a catalytic converter and resonator were removed from a vehicle in the 700 block of Hagerman Peak in an incident reported Dec. 31. The loss was estimated at $500.

Arrests

The following were among arrests reported by Newman police from Dec. 30 to Jan. 5. The arrest report includes incidents in which an individual was released on citation as well as cases in which a suspect was booked.

Jesus M. Sodia Jr., 35, of Newman, was arrested Dec. 30 on a misdemeanor charge of possession of drug paraphernalia.

Miguel A. Baires, 29, of Newman, was arrested Dec. 30 on a misdemeanor charge of driving on a license suspended for DUI.

Consuelo Aguayo, 25, of Gustine, was arrested Dec. 31 on a misdemeanor charge of driving on a suspended or revoked license.

Juan Gomez Rojo, 40, of Modesto, was arrested Dec. 31 on a misdemeanor charge of driving without a license.

Francisco J. Oropeza, 41, of Newman, was arrested Jan. 2 on a misdemeanor charge of driving on a suspended or revoked license.

Jose Ruiz Jr., 48, of Newman, was arrested Jan. 2 on a misdemeanor charge of driving on a suspended or revoked license.

Jose A. Canales, 36, of Newman, was arrested Jan. 3 on a misdemeanor charge of driving without a license.

Longino Velasquez Vasquez, 31, of Gustine, was arrested Jan. 3 on a misdemeanor charge of driving without a license.

Guillermo Garcia Schuto, 23, of Turlock, was arrested Jan. 3 on a misdemeanor charge of driving without a license.

Vanessa Flores, 32, of Newman, was arrested Jan. 3 on a misdemeanor charge of driving without a license.

Eriberto Preciado, 37, of Newman, was arrested Jan. 4 on two felony warrants out of Stanislaus County Superior Court.

Emma Diaz Lopez, 19, of Snelling, was arrested Jan. 5 on a misdemeanor charge of driving without a license.

Walter A. Virgen, 26, of Crows Landing, was arrested Jan. 5 on a misdemeanor charge of driving on a license suspended for DUI.

Jose M. Sanchez Alejo, 22, of Merced, was arrested Jan. 5 on a misdemeanor charge of driving on a suspended or revoked license.

Activity report

Newman police received 88 calls for service, reported 90 officer-initiated incidents, handled 28 cases, made 19 arrests, issued 19 traffic citations and wrote four parking citations from Dec. 30 through Jan. 5, according to the department’s activity report.

GUSTINE POLICE

Sexual battery case

Gustine police said a local man was arrested Tuesday, Dec. 31 following an incident in which he is accused of fondling a minor family member in her bed.

Other family members brought the incident to the attention of authorities, said Lt. Samuel Joseph, who is overseeing the Gustine Police Department, and after investigation Ruben Flores, 37, of Gustine, was arrested and booked on suspicion of sexual battery. The charge is a felony.

Theft

Gustine police said a catalytic converter was reported stolen Dec. 31 off a vehicle parked in the 1700 block of Via Milano. The loss was estimated at $1,200.

Stolen vehicle

Authorities said a 2000 Honda Civic was reported stolen Jan. 3 from the Saputo parking lot.

Burglary

Police said a burglary was reported Jan. 6 at the Gustine Adult School on Wallis Avenue. No information was available on missing items or value of loss.

Jeffery L. Ramsey, 56, of Turlock, was arrested Jan. 1 on a misdemeanor charge of driving on a suspended license.

Fabian A. Martinez, 33, of Gustine, was arrested Jan. 1 on a misdemeanor vandalism charge.

A 23-year-old Gustine male was arrested Jan. 2 on a felony domestic violence charge.

Oscar R. Moya, 22, of Gustine, was arrested Jan. 4 on a misdemeanor charge of driving without a license.

Carmen J. Maderogastelum, 26, of Delhi, was arrested Jan. 4 on a misdemeanor charge of driving on a suspended license.

Ethan J. Pinhiero, 28, of Stevinson, was arrested Jan. 4 on a misdemeanor charge of driving on a suspended license.

Activity report

Gustine police received 54 calls for service, reported 133 officer-initiated incidents, handled 19 cases, made nine arrests, issued eight traffic citations and wrote six parking tickets from Dec. 30 through Jan. 6, according to the department’s activity report.
