Vehicle theft

Newman police said a 1992 Honda Civic was reported stolen Aug. 17 from the 1900 block of Prince Street. The vehicle was recovered Aug. 19 in an orchard near Sherman Parkway and Cinnamon Teal Way. It was not damaged.

Arrests

The following are among arrests reported by Newman police from Aug. 12-18. The arrest report includes incidents in which an individual was released on citation as well as cases in which a suspect was booked.

Eduardo L. Parra, 28, of Newman, was arrested Aug. 12 on a misdemeanor drug possession charge.

Alberto Lopez, 24, of Newman, was arrested Aug. 13 on a misdemeanor charge of driving on a suspended or revoked license.

Oscar A. Hernandez, 39, of Patterson, was arrested Aug. 15 on misdemeanor charges of driving on a license suspended for DUI and drug possession.

Melyssa Huerta, 40, of Crows Landing, was arrested Aug. 15 on a misdemeanor charge of driving on a suspended or revoked license.

Deanna Jo Riggs, 44, of Gustine, was arrested Aug. 15 on a misdemeanor charge of driving on a suspended or revoked license.

Sara Hernandez, 36, of Patterson, was arrested Aug. 16 for driving on a suspended or revoked license. The charge is a misdemeanor.

Jose A. Canales, 36, of Stevinson, was arrested Aug. 16 on a misdemeanor charge of driving without a license.

Ricardo J. Cisneros Jr., 31, of Ceres, was arrested Aug. 17 on a misdemeanor charge of driving on a license suspended for DUI.

Israel DeLeon Jr., 49, of Modesto, was arrested Aug. 17 on a misdemeanor charge of possession of drug paraphernalia.

Activity report

Newman police received 86 calls for service, reported 103 officer-initiated incidents, handled 27 cases, made 12 arrests, wrote 11 traffic tickets, issued six parking citations and wrote one animal-related ticket from Aug. 12-18, according to the department’s activity report.

GUSTINE POLICE

Arrest in conjunction with burglary

Gustine police said a suspect was arrested Aug. 6 in conjunction with a July 31 burglary at Pioneer Drug.

Authorities said George A. Garcia, 27, of Gustine, was arrested on felony charges of burglary, violating probation, being a felon in possession of a firearm, vandalism and being a prohibited person in possession of ammunition, as well as misdemeanor charges of receiving stolen property and possession burglary tools.

The investigation of the Pioneer burglary led authorities to a second-floor apartment over the drug store, where police said a cash register drawer, store receipts, two rifles and ammunition were discovered, as well as evidence linking Garcia to that location.

Larceny cases

Three recent larceny cases were reported to Gustine police.

Authorities said gas was siphoned from a work truck at A-Plus Plumbing in an incident reported Aug. 12. A fence was cut to gain access to the truck. No loss amount was listed.

Mail was reported stolen Aug. 14 from the 500 block of Fourth Street. The loss was estimated at less than $20.

Two bicycles were reported stolen Aug. 19 from the 1000 block of Via Milano. The loss was estimated at less then $500.

Brett C. Addington, 28, of Gustine, was arrested Aug. 7 on a misdemeanor charge of unreasonable noise.

Elizabeth J. Cervantez, 35, of Santa Nella, was arrested Aug. 8 on a misdemeanor charge of driving without a license.

Samantha Araiza, 19, was arrested Aug. 10 on a misdemeanor charge of driving without a license.

Jose Villalobos-Castellanos, 34, of Gustine, was arrested Aug. 14 on a misdemeanor charge of driving without a license.

Antonio Mendoza, 37, of Gustine, was arrested Aug. 15 on a misdemeanor charge of driving without a license.

Edgar A. Farias Ramirez, 18, of Gustine, was arrested Aug. 15 on a misdemeanor charge of driving without a license.

German Delgado Zaragoza, 21, of Tracy, was arrested Aug. 17 on a misdemeanor charge of reckless driving.

Flavio F. Garcia-Vera, 34, of Gustine, was arrested Aug. 17 on misdemeanor charges of driving witout a license and displaying false registration.

Dena L. Mounce, 51, of Visalia, was arrested Aug. 18 on a misdemeanor charge of possessing drug paraphernalia.

Lanette C. Short, 25, of Atwater, was arrested Aug. 18 on misdemeanor charges of driving without a license and displaying false registration.

Jamie M. Faltz, 22, of Tracy, was arrested Aug. 18 on a misdemeanor charge of driving on a suspended license.

Activity report

Gustine police received 135 calls for service, reported 225 officer-initiated incidents (including 59 traffic stops), took 41 reports, and made 15 arrests from Aug. 6-20, according to the department’s activity report.
