Activity Report

The Newman Police Department received 112 calls for service and reported 57 officer initiated calls for a total of 169 incidents between Sept. 6 to Sept. 12. There were 30 cases opened and eight arrests made. The department issued four traffic citation, two criminal citations, one animal citation and 12 parking citations. Four vehicles were towed.

Auto theft

The Newman Police Department was contacted by the California Highway Patrol after they found a vehicle on fire on Interstate 5. The vehicle was a 2016 Dodge Journey and was registered to a Newman resident. Police contacted the owner on Sept. 11,  and the owner said it had been stolen . The case remains open and under investigation.

Possession of child pornography

The Newman Police Department was informed that material depicting child sexual assault was being shared from an IP address in Newman. Officers obtained a search warrant for the home, which is located in the 2000 block of Denali Park. The search resulted in the arrest of Cesar Gallardo, 25, of Newman. He was booked into Stanislaus County Jail on charges of possession of obscene matter involving a minor and sending or selling obscene matter involving a minor, both of which are felonies.

As of Tuesday afternoon, Gallardo was not in custody and no case had been filed under his name on the Stanislaus County Superior Court online search.

Arrests

Luis Eduardo Manzo Torres, 37, of Newman was arrested on Sept. 6 for battery and assault.

An unnamed 45-year-old male resident of Newman was arrested on Sept. 9 for domestic violence, obstructing a police officer and possession of a controlled substance.

Cesar Gallardo, 25, of Newman was arrested on Sept. 9 for possession of obscene matter involving a minor and sending or selling obscene matter involving a minor.

Luis Antonio Ortiz Solorzano, 19, of Gustine was arrested on Sept. 9 for attempted murder, robbery, conspiracy, assault with a firearm on a person, negligent discharge of firearm, carrying a loaded firearm  in person, unlawful possession of a firearm, and carrying an unregistered firearm.

Jonathan Cota, 20, of Gustine was arrested on Sept. 9 for robbery and conspiracy.

Daniel Christopher Bar, 26, of Newman was arrested on Sept. 11 for possession of narcotics for sale, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of a controlled substance, willful cruelty to a child, a warrant, and a probation violation.

Tyler Christopher Silveira, 31, of Newman was arrested on Sept. 11 for possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, and two warrants.

Eduardo Luis Parra, 30, of Newman was arrested on Sept. 11 for possession of a controlled substance.

Gustine Police

Activity Report

The Gustine Police Department received 74 calls for service and reported 84 officer initiated calls for a total of 158 incidents between Sept. 7 to Sept. 13. There were 19 cases open and 13 arrests made. The department issued two traffic citations, two parking citations and towed two vehicles.

Lotto ticket likely lost, not stolen

A claim made to  the Gustine Police Department that a winning lotto ticket was taken by a store clerk turned out to be false and was actually a lost ticket.

On Sept. 11 the Gustine Police Department was contacted by a Gustine resident about a winning $600 winning lotto ticket. The man said he went to the Quick and Easy convenience store at 780 South Avenue to claim the prize and was given a form to fill out.

The man told the police department he believed the clerk kept the ticket, but a later review of the surveillance video shows the clerk handing the man the winning ticket and the claim form, according to the police department.

When the man was contacted again he stated he probably lost the ticket, according to the police department.

Arrests

Dulce Crystal Morfin Magana, 27, of Newman was arrested on Sept. 7 for driving without a license, expired registration and no proof of insurance.

Ralph Lee White, 18, of Stockton was arrested on Sept. 8 for driving with a licenses and failure to dim headlights.

Xzavyer Isaia Harmon Palacious, 21, of Stockton was arrested on Sept. 8 for a felony warrant.

Russell John Souza Jr., 21, of Turlock was arrested on Sept. 9 for a traffic violation and possession of an open container.

Jonathan Gererdo Cota, 20, of Gustine was arrested on Sept. 9 for a bench warrant.

Charlene Lee Hayslip, 40, of Gustine was arrested on Sept. 9 for trespassing and vandalism.

Lasherelle Ccatrice Robinson, 50, of Merced was arrested on Sept. 9 for driving without a license, possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, expired registration, no proof of insurance and a warrant.

Nancy Cortes Flores, 42, of Gustine was arrested on Sept. 9 for a vehicle code infraction.

A 16-year-old resident of Gustine was arrested on Sept. 10 for driving without a license and a vehicle code infraction.

Yasman Prado, 28, of Gustine was arrested on Sept. 10 for driving without a license and a vehicle code infraction.

A 16-year-old resident of Santa Nella was arrested on Sept. 11 for driving without a license and a vehicle code infraction.

A 16-year-old Gustine resident was arrested on Sept. 11 for driving without a license and a traffic violation.

Jesus Alejandro Buenrostrom, 19, of Tracy was arrested on Sept. 11 for reckless driving and a vehicle code infraction.

Weekly arrest and incident reports are provided by the Newman and Gustine police departments. Charges may have been dropped as of press time. All suspects are presumed to be innocent until proven guilty.
