Burglary

Newman police said a radiator, several vehicle batteries and other miscellaneous items were reported stolen May 22 from Medina Auto Repair.

The loss was estimated at $1,000.

Vandalism

Police said a vehicle in the 1200 block of P Street was vandalized in an incident reported May 21. Damage to the vehicle paint was estimated at $900.

Arrests

The following were among arrests reported by Newman police from May 18-24. The arrest report includes incidents in which an individual was released on citation as well as cases in which a suspect was booked.

Robert S. Bone, 54, of Turlock, was arrested May 18 on a misdemeanor charge of driving on a suspended or revoked license.

Alvarao Reyes Luna, 44, of Newman, was arrested May 19 on two felony counts of threatening with the intent to terrorize, as well as misdemeanor charges of DUI, possession of a controlled substance and reckless driving.

Moises Sotelo III, 21, of Newman, was arrested May 20 on a misdemeanor charge of driving without a license.

Nicholas Ramirez, 34, of Newman, was arrested May 21 on felony charges of threatening with intent to terrorize and obstructing/resisting a police officer.

Jimmy DeLaCruz, 32, of Newman, was arrested May 22 on a misdemeanor charge of driving on a suspended or revoked license.

Samuel Elizalde Jr., 18, of Ceres, was arrested May 22 on a misdemeanor charge of driving without a license.

A 16-year-old Newman male was arrested May 22 on a misdemeanor charge of driving without a license.

Octavio Gonzalez Garcia, 25, of Newman, was arrested May 23 on a misdemeanor charge of driving without a license.

A 38-year-old Newman male was arrested May 24 on a misdemeanor domestic violence charge.

Veronica L. Ramos, 40, of Newman, was arrested May 24 on a misdemeanor trespassing charge.

Jorge Gonzalez, 22, of Newman, was arrested May 24 on a misdemeanor charge of driving without a license.

Maria Alvarado, 43, of Newman, was arrested May 24 on a misdemeanor charge of driving without a license.

Activity report

Newman police received 86 calls for service, reported 50 officer-initiated incidents, handled 25 cases, made 13 arrests, wrote 12 traffic citations and issued one parking ticket from May 18-24, according to the department’s activity report.

GUSTINE POLICE

Two arrested on multiple charges

Gustine police said two people were arrested Monday, May 25, on multiple charges

According to Gustine police, officers responding to a 10:40 a.m. report of a subject entering a vacant building in the 500 block of Fifth Street located Angel Garcia Aguilar Jr., 38, of Gustine standing just outside the back door of the building.

During a continued search of the premises, a GPD Facebook post indicated, officers came upon a locked closet and found Jessica Y. Reyes, 29, of Gustine, hiding inside.

Officers also located gang graffiti on the premises, a substance believed to be methamphetamine and numerous items, including a laptop computer, cell phones and jewelry.

Upon further investigation, authorities said, they contacted the owner of the recovered property, who was unaware that his Grove Avenue home had been burglarized. The burglary victim identified the items as his and the property was returned to the owner.

Police said Garcia Aguilar and Reyes were each arrested on felony charges of receiving stolen property and vandalism, a felony enhancement for participating in criminal street gang activity and a misdemeanor charge of possession of a controlled substance. Authorities reported that Reyes was also arrested on a misdemeanor charge of possession of drug paraphernalia.

Vehicle theft

Gustine police said a 2000 Honda was reported stolen May 22 from the 800 block of South Avenue. The vehicle was subsequently recovered in Los Banos.

Vandalism

Police said a chain blocking an entryway was cut in an incident reported May 25. The damage was estimated at $500.

Belen Zaragoza, 30, of Newman, was arrested May 19 on a misdemeanor charge of driving on a suspended license.

Emmanuel A. Valencia, 33, of Livingston, was arrested May 20 on a misdemeanor charge of driving on a license suspended for DUI.

Miguel A. Gembe, 42, of Gustine, was arrested May 20 on misdemeanor charges of possession of drug paraphernalia and driving on a license suspended for DUI.

Jorge A. Ayalafernandez Jr., 22, of Los Banos, was arrested May 22 on a misdemeanor charge of driving on a license suspended for DUI.

Esteban M. Chavez, 45, of Los Banos, was arrested May 24 on a misdemeanor charge of driving on a license suspended for DUI.

James J. Perry Jr., 41, of Los Banos, was arrested May 24 on misdemeanor charges of possession of a controlled substance and possession of narcotics paraphernalia.

Activity report

Gustine police received 51 calls for service, reported 115 officer-initiated incidents, handled 19 cases, made nine arrests and issued nine traffic citations from May 19-25, according to the department’s activity report.
