Vehicle theft

Newman police said a 1992 Toyota 4Runner was reported stolen April 14 from the 1000 block of R Street. Police said the vehicle was recovered the following day at Crows Landing and River roads by the Modesto Area CHP. The steering column had been destroyed and the stereo taken.

Thefts

Police said two thefts of catalytic converters were reported April 12.

Police said a catalytic converter was reported stolen from a 2005 Toyota Tundra in the yard at Westco Iron Works. The loss was estimated at $800.

A converter was reported stolen off a 2001 Ford pickup in the 1200 block of Amy Drive. The loss was estimated at $1,000.

Arrest report

The following were among arrests reported by Newman police from April 12-18. The arrest report includes incidents in which an individual was released on citation as well as cases in which a suspect was booked.

Daniel R. Gill, 46, of Modesto, was arrested April 12 on a misdemeanor charge of driving without a license.

Randy Heldstab, 37, of Newman, was arrested April 12 on a misdemeanor charge of driving on a suspended license.

Lorenzo Acuna Torres, 30, of Modesto, was arrested April 13 on a misdemeanor DUI charge.

Manuel Gonzalez, 51, of Newman, was arrested April 15 on a misdemeanor charge of driving without a license.

Lauren Espinoza, 26, of Newman, was arrested April 15 on a misdemeanor charge of driving without a license.

Allan M. Araiza Lira, 31, of Newman, was arrested April 15 on misdemeanor charges of possession of a controlled substance and driving on a suspended license.

Guadalupe Rodriguez, 28, of Gustine, was arrested April 16 on a misdemeanor charge of driving without a license.

Activity report

Newman police received 82 calls for service, reported 68 officer-initiated incidents, handled 25 cases, made seven arrests, wrote 14 traffic citations, issued four parking tickets and wrote one animal-related citation from April 12-18, according to the department’s activity report.

GUSTINE POLICE

Theft

Gustine police said a catalytic converter was stolen off a 2008 Toyota Prius in the 1500 block of Via Compania in an incident reported April 14. The loss was estimated at $1,500.

Vandalism, theft

Police said a truck parked in the 300 block of Fifth Street was broken into in an incident reported April 16. Miscellaneous items of minimal value were reported stolen, according to authorities.

Arrests

The following were among arrests reported by Gustine police from April 13-19. The arrest report includes incidents in which an individual was released on citation as well as cases in which a suspect was booked.

Damien C. Galvan, 42, of Gustine, was arrested April 13 on a misdemeanor charge of battery against a person.

A 29-year-old Newman resident was arrested April 13 on a misdemeanor domestic battery charge.

Divina P. Garcia, 24, of Gustine, was arrested April 16 on a misdemeanor charge of displaying a false vehicle registration.

Activity report

Gustine police received 64 calls for service, reported 77 officer-initiated incidents, handled 18 cases, made eight arrests, wrote nine traffic citations and issued three parking tickets from April 13-19, according to the department’s activity report.
