Newman Police

Activity Report

The Newman Police Department received 91 calls for service and reported 82 officer initiated calls for a total of 173 incidents from Dec. 6 to Dec. 12. There were 26 cases opened and 13 arrests. The department issued 13 traffic citations, four criminal citations, and seven parking citations. Three vehicles were towed.

Auto burglary

An auto burglary was reported from the 200 block of Parliament Court on Dec . 6. A 2013 Ford F150 was parked on the street in front of a residence. A gray DJI mini drone, a Husky tool bag with a Ryoby temperature gauge and other tools were stolen out of the truck.

Auto burglary

Property was stolen out of a work truck in the 1200 block of Amy Drive on Dec. 7. The truck is a 2019 Ford 350 with a flatbed. A dewalt rotary hammer and a Honda generator were stolen.

Arrests

Alvaro Martinez Salas, 60, of Gustine was arrested on Dec. 6 for being an unlicensed driver.

Melisa Hernandez, 38, of Newman was arrested on Dec. 6 for being an unlicensed driver.

Steve Mendoza Carmona, 39, of Newman was arrested on Dec. 7 for obstructing a police officer, possession of a controlled substance, and possession of heroin/cocaine etc.

Frank David Luna Jr., 32, of Crows Landing was arrested on Dec. 7 for being an unlicensed driver.

A 35-year-old unnamed male resident of Newman was arrested on Dec. 8 for domestic battery.

A 34-year-old unnamed female resident of Newman was arrested on Dec. 8 for grand theft.

Santiago Hernandez Mejia, 29, of Newman was arrested on Dec. 8 for being an unlicensed driver.

Johnny Ray Davis, 41, of Newman was arrested on Dec. 8 for being an unlicensed driver.

David Paul Cooper, 40, of Ceres was arrested on Dec. 9 for a warrant.

Ma De Lourdes Orozco Huerta, 55, of Newman was arrested on Dec. 9 for being an unlicensed driver.

Jayson Carlos Torres, 20, of Newman was arrested on Dec. 9 for being an unlicensed driver.

Nathon Timothy Powell, 38, of Newman was arrested on Dec. 11 for vandalism.

Stephanie Lea Meinecke, 42, of Ceres was arrested on Dec. 12 for possession of a controlled substance, possession of a controlled substance without a prescription, possession of drug paraphernalia, and embezzlement.

Gustine Police

Activity Report

The Gustine Police Department received 54 calls for service and reported 86 officer intitiated calls for a total of 140 incidents between Dec. 6 to Dec. 13. There were 11 cases opened and two arrests. The department issued five traffic citations.

DUI

Shortly after 8 p.m. on Dec. 7, the Gustine Police Department received a report of a suspected driving under the influence. The reporting party said two teenage boys were seen drinking out of a bottle that appeared to be alcohol. The two teens left the 1st Street area headed towards Newman on Highway 33 in a gray Toyota, but were not located.

Arrests

Charlene Lee Hayslip, 41, of Gustine was arrested on Dec. 11 for possession of drug paraphernalia and two warrants.

Abraham Ramirez, 29, of Gustine was arrested on Dec. 12 for possession of a controlled substance.
