Vehicle burglaries

Newman police said a number of vehicle burglaries were reported last week.

A driver’s license, Social Security card, sunglasses and $20 in cash were reported stolen May 6 from a vehicle in the 1500 block of Canyon Creek. The loss was estimated at $190.

A camera and two BB guns were reported stolen May 6 from a vehicle in the 1600 block of Glacier Bay. The loss was estimated at $1,320.

A driver’s license, debit card and credit cards were reported stolen May 6 from a vehicle in the 2100 block of Creek Court. No value was listed.

Three chainsaws, a blower and a generator were reported stolen May 9 from a vehicle in the 1000 block of Highway 33. The loss was estimated at $1,800.

Vehicle theft

Police said a 2002 Chevrolet van was reported stolen May 8 from the 1000 block of Highway 33. The vehicle had not been recovered as of Monday afternoon.

Arrests

The following were among arrests reported by Newman police from May 4-10. The arrest report includes incidents in which an individual was released on citation as well as cases in which a suspect was booked.

Jose A. Medina Frias, 43, of Newman, was arrested May 7 on a misdemeanor charge of driving on a suspended or revoked license.

A 14-year-old Newman male was arrested May 8 on a misdemeanor charge of driving without a license.

Raul Herrera Marquez, 26, of Newman, was arrested May 9 on a misdemeanor charge of driving without a license.

Ignacio Nava Garcia Jr., 21, of Modesto, was arrested May 9 on a misdemeanor DUI charge.

Activity report

Newman police received 79 calls for service, reported 41 officer-initiated incidents, handled 17 cases, made eight arrests, wrote six traffic citations and issued two parking tickets from May 4-10, according to the department’s activity report.

GUSTINE POLICE

Gold theft

Gustine police said gold valued at $5,000 was reported stolen May 9 from a residence in the 100 block of Fifth Street.

Vandalism

Police said vandalism to a wall in the 400 block of Sixth Street was reported May 9. No estimated damage was listed.

Arrests

The following were among arrests reported by Gustine police from May 5-11. The arrest report includes incidents in which an individual was released on citation as well as cases in which a suspect was booked.

Andrew Fonseca, 26, of Gustine was arrested May 8 on a misdemeanor charge of driving without a license.

Miguel A. Gembe, 42, of Gustine was arrested May 9 on a misdemeanor charge of possession of drug paraphernalia.

An 18-year-old Gustine male was arrested May 10 on multiple felony charges related to a domestic violence incident.

Activity report

Gustine police received 54 calls for service, reported 103 officer-initiated incidents, handled 12 cases, made five arrests, and issued seven traffic citations from May 5-11, according to the department’s activity report.
